No HD in OT? Viewers think 14 chucked the puck

It's unclear why there were issues with Stanley Cup finals game on 14

UPDATE, 10:10 a.m. THURSDAY: I'm told this morning that the problems with NBC programming on 14 last night involved an issue with their network equipment. They've given me assurance that it's been taken care of.

UPDATE, 11:07 p.m.: If you didn't like the quality of the finish on 14, it could have been worse. At least you saw it. They didn't in Austin, Texas.

For some reason tonight, the Stanley Cup finals game between the Chicago Blackhawks and Boston Bruins switched from high definition to standard definition, at least for those who were watching 14WFIE, and the picture repeatedly froze for several seconds at a time.

It's not known what caused the problem, and it's also unclear if it was on NBC's end or at the station, but it certainly proved bothersome for a number of local hockey fans, who took to social media to express their (justified) dismay.

I've touched base with 14 and we'll see if they have anything to say about it.

Stay tuned ...
