NOAA Weather Radio station in Newton off air again, this time for power issue

Yesterday, it was a phone line, today it's a power failure, but the end result is the same:  Some Tri-Staters are again without NOAA Weather Radio coverage as the Newton, Ill. transmitter, KXI-48, is off the air.

The National Weather Service office in Central Illinois reports that technicians are on the scene and looking into the problem.  No word yet on a timetable for getting it back on the air.

In the Tri-State, the Newton transmitter serves Clay, Edwards, Lawrence, Richland and Wayne counties in Southeastern Illinois.
